After a Final Four of the North Carolina Tar Heels, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks and South Carolina Gamecocks, people have no idea what to expect entering the 2017-18 NCAA men’s college basketball season.

Last season ended with head coach Roy Williams and his North Carolina team taking the title from Gonzaga after losing in the final game the season before the Villanova Wildcats. While Carolina will likely still enter the season in the AP Top 25, Tony Bradley’s decision to go pro leaves some spaces for Williams’ frontcourt.

The team that took the 2016 championship from North Carolina, Villanova, is back again after nearly going undefeated last season. Behind junior point guard Jalen Brunson, the Wildcats are a well-oiled machine to make a run in the Big East and beyond.

Bill Self’s Kansas Jayhawks are going to be a tough team for Big 12 foes to content with this season. The Jayhawks are attempting to win their 14th consecutive Big 12 title behind freshmen Billy Preston and Marcus Garrett. Kansas also picked up transfers Charlie Moore, Dedric Lawson and K.J. Lawson for the 2018-19 season.

One Big Ten team to definitely keep an eye on this season are the Michigan State Spartans, who many expect to be the top team in the country, mostly due to the return of Miles Bridges for his sophomore campaign. Bridges averaged 17 point and eight rebounds in an injury-plagued freshman year, and he will be a first-team All-American this time around. Purdue and Minnesota, both up-and-comers in the conference, will give Michigan State all they can handle for the title at the Big Ten Tournament in New York at Madison Square Garden in March.

And once again it will be difficult to forget about the Duke Blue Devils, who picked up Marvin Bagley III late in the offseason after he reclassified for this year’s class. Duke’s games on Tobacco Road versus North Carolina will be must-see action during conference season.
