As one of the two oldest franchises in the National Hockey League and the eighth most established team in the league, the Toronto Maple Leafs is a driving force behind the North American League's (NHL) in terms of attendance. The Leafs have garnered a devoted fan base across the region of Toronto, Canada since their first inception in the National Hockey League. Their tremendous success in the past has made them one of the financially stable franchises in professional sports. However, with the increased demand for tickets for their regular home games, the cost of tickets has skyrocketed. To address this growing problem, and to continue to attract top-drawing players and a loyal fan base, the team has decided to create their own ice hockey Stadium.

The Toronto Maple Leafs Ice Hockey Stadium is to be built at Exhibition Stadium and it will serve as the new home of the Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey team. This venue, to be located in Toronto's Leslie Street Gardens is expected to cost approximately C$2 million Canadian dollars and will mark the first time that a major-league sports team will be based in Toronto. According to team officials, the venue will include features such as a restaurant, a Capleitrator bar, an audio-video screen and a state-of-the-art electronic scoring system. Other planned features include a premium restaurant, a VIP lounge, an in-house restaurant and other facilities. It is also hoped that the new venue will help to increase interest in Toronto Maple Leafs hockey by adding another facility that can be enjoyed by both the fans and the players.

With tickets prices are increasing and the overall financial situation of the NHL's Eastern Conference floundering, the Toronto Maple Leafs is forced to look for alternate means to finance their hockey-related events. With the impending doom of the lockout, it has been speculated that the Toronto Maple Leafs might consider moving their home arena to the Milton Keynes City Centre, an indoor venue that would better accommodate the Leafs. Although no official news on this report has emerged, local organizers are hopeful that talks with the NHL will resume as soon as the impending hockey season comes to a close. In spite of this worry from the club, there have been some positive developments on the business front with local businessmen lining up to invest in different events such as concerts, corporate entertainment events and ice skating tournaments.
