A New Pink Floyd Album?

Polly Samson … David Gilmour’s wife  leaked news on Twitter about new Pink Floyd
album coming out in a bout 3 months.

Pink Floyd fans all over the world are excitedly tweeting about this announcement
That David Gimour’s wife Polly Samson leaked. The rock and roll legends will be
releasing for the first time in some 20 years an album titled, titled The Endless River.
I have to say that I’m pretty psyched about it too.

David Gilmour’s wife, author Polly Samson – cowrote the lyrics to most of the songs
on Floyd’s 1994 album, The Division Bell – tweeted the below message:

Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called “The Endless River”. Based on 1994
sessions is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful.

RIck Wright was the original keyboardist for Pink Floyd, he died of cancer in 2008
at the age of 65. This is what Gilmour had to say about him when he passed:

No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend.
In the
welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick’s enormous
input was
frequently forgotten. He was gentle, unassuming, and private, but his
soulful voice and
playing were vital, magical components of our most recognized
Pink Floyd sound. I have
never played with anyone quite like him.

The blend of his and my voices and our musical telepathy reached their first major
flowering in 1971 on ‘Echoes’. In my view all the greatest PF moments are the ones
where he is in full flow. After all, without ‘Us and Them’ and ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’,
both of which he wrote, what would ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ have been? Without
his quiet touch, the album ‘Wish You Were Here’ would not quite have worked.

In our middle years, for many reasons, he lost his way for a while; but in the early
Nineties, with ‘The Division Bell’, his vitality, spark and humour returned to him,
and then the audience reaction to his appearances on my tour in 2006 was hugely
uplifting and it’s a mark of his modesty that those standing ovations came as a huge
surprise to him (though not to the rest of us). Like Rick, I don’t find it easy to express
my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously.

Pink Floyd’s management isn’t thrilled with Samson’s news-breaking tweet.

No news yet on whether Roger Waters is making a guest appearance on the new album,
but it’s doubtful that he will. But you never know …

Just a thought below that is a little off topic …

I’m just hoping that they leave they’re politics out of the album. Too many artists
these days feel the need to use their music as a soapbox for their “causes”. They are
all entitled to these. But like many actors are finding out that when they’ve been very
aggressive about injecting their politics into their careers it can kill the illusions of
the characters they play when the first thing people think of when they hear their
names or see them is those “politics” for or against.

There are a number of performers acting and musicians that have taken to the soapbox
and lost many of us as fans. Pink Floyd’s members have been very active politically and
have drawn no less criticism than praise. Personally I don’t want to associate any of my
favorite musicians or actors with politics or religion. I love what they do what they’ve
brought to us through their art … they should stick to it.

We’ll let you know when there”s more news on the album and there is no doubt there
is a tour not to far off into the future. We can’t wait to see what the fun the tour show
is going to bring. Anyone who had the luck to see “Animals” or “The Wall” will know
exactly what I’m talking about. 🙂
